New Dump & Front pipe

This is what i collected up in brissy yesterday. Not much money gets spent on my silvia (except in engine rebuilds) so I decided to splash out and get a new Dump+Front pipe. I managed to find one for sale that came as one peice in stainless 3".

Not much of an upgrade i know, but considering the car came with a standard dump and only a cat back exhaust i felt it deserved it. Particularly if i up the boost a bit more and/or buy a new turbo down the track.

I have to say also its so refreshing to buy parts for a car that just bolt up, no cutting or welding to do lol.. Thanks Corolla

Here's an idea of the difference in size; the car pretty much isn't any louder but it actually feels alot smoother in the lower rev range.

This is probably the only turbo silvia in Australia that was still running standard exhaust between the turbo and Cat lol...

Jayrad's 'Supermade' S14

Today Jayrad got his new Supermade front bar and S14 wing from JDM garage, so we got some new photos for him to score women and internet credit from.

Still about a 3-4 week eta on his white 18x10 Work XD9's. Once they arrive its pretty much going to be the most awesome S14 around.

JDM Garage

Today i went for a ride up with Jayrad to see Erin, Buckna and the boys at JDM garage in Brisbane. Jayrad had his pockets full of cash to purchase some bits he wanted for his S14, and i came for the ride to collect a part for my s13 that was in brissy. But more on that later.

These guys have got just about anything you could want for a Nissan, i was lucky to not have much cash on me but i was secretly compiling a list of parts that my s13 now needs.

The thought occured to buy these beauties i think at 17x9 +25. When i actually have money to be spent on wheels i will be aiming for something closer to a 17x9 +18.

Maybe i could buy a set of these Work Meisters..

I was very tempted for one of these stunning painted rocker covers for my red top, but i should hopefully be getting my old one back soon with a fresh lick of paint the same color as Jason's hachi.

And who doesn't love stickers from the land of J. Considering i had enough in my wallet for at least a couple of these i had to be very careful. Basically if you come with a full wallet to JDM garage be prepared to come back with a whole lot of awesome.

It was great to see Erin's Sil80 up close today, i was actually reading through the build up last night so it was a treat to see it in person.

Lots of stickers too, i swear my corolla is too clean cut some times.

And the reason i came for a ride up with Jayrad, but i will have a whole post on that shortly.

Hot Road 180sx

My good mate Jason's dream came true today for his 180sx with the arrival of his new Hot Road Kit.
If you haven't seen the hot road kit, maybe you have seen it on one of the C's Garage cars:

Already being such an awesome car, i felt it deserved some pics to show off

High Performance Import

Well i might as well say it, today my car was getting shot for HPI (High Performance Imports - Or rather now known only as Performance Imports).
http://www.hpi.com.au/

Its something that has always been my dream to have a car worthy of being in a printed publication. I always love reading online magazines, but there's just something magic about having something physically printed on paper.

Im very very excited and can't wait to see it in the magazine!

The photographer, Chris Fatseas (http://www.chrisfatseas.com/) who i met today took some amazing photos. Although my shots arent anything like what he took, i got some behind the scenes photos.

Check out the all my shots from today here:

AUGUST JDMST

I took the hour drive up to the JDM Style Tuning meet this monday in my corolla. Such a cool meet up, i couldn't beleive there are actually this many cool road driven cars in australia. (Boostcruising had made me lose hope...)

Of course i brought up the 40D and my new Glass, so enjoy the shots

New Kit

Ive kicked it up a notch with my photography gear.
Yesterday my two brand new lenses turned up, a 17-40mm f/4L & a 50mm f/1.4 USM.

I havent had a great chance to use them just yet except for around the house, but i thought id grace the pages with my datsun daily =D
Plenty more awesome photos to come!

Awesome!!

I just got shown this photo and it's exactly what ive been looking for from sunday.
Such a tough battle from Josh Coote, and so it should be. The dude is a damn good driver. I could have sworn he was going to collect my underpowered car numerous times, but always managed to keep it away.

A massive thanks to Eugene for showing me this photo, not sure if its your buddy but i edited it a bit more. Hope thats ok =)

King of Drift - 2nd Place!

Well i honestly could not beleive it, but i came back with 2nd place yesterday.
Top four was a feirce battle with Josh Coote, Dan Kenneally and Josh Boettcher... So i was well out of my normal playing field. Hopefully i can find some pics of the battles soon!
Anyway for the time being, here's my trophy.

Also, im very happy to have actually properly used up a set of tires yesterday... usually i come back with the tires sortof too used for another track day, but not really even delaminated..
Yesterday was not the case.

I managed to do this during the entry comp, got as much speed as i could and short shifted to 4th and handbraked into corner 6. I held it till the corner, and then jammed it into second... it was pretty obvious it happened somewhere on corner 6 but i just put it into 3rd and kept going lol.

Engine Bay Tidy Up

I think its safe to say that 4agze's are a lost cause in terms of engine bay tidy'ness.
Ive seen one or two cool looking examples, but at the end of the day they are ugly as sin and could never be as awesome looking as a worked n/a 4age 16v or 20v with quads and tuned extractors.
Case in point:

I sold my engine bay's soul, but its a small price to pay for unreal amounts of torque that would make turbo owners weep.

Today i took it upon myself to clean up my engine bay with a bit of paint and try to make it a bit more visually pleasing. I also had a bit of an incentive to do so, but i won't say why at this point untill its actually happened.

Here's how the motor was looking this morning. The radiator support somewhere between black and red from when i changed from slanted front to flat front. Silicon bits in orange and red, two colors that have no commonality with anything in the car. The washer bottles slowely flaking paint into my engine bay that i never bothered to paint.

Well i didn't do a dramatic amount today, but i did enough to be happy with my efforts. Firstly i masked off the radiator support, gave it a light sand and painted it satin black. While doing this the washer bottles copped the same treatment. I also decided to mask off the tops of the strut towers and spray them with a can of the cars outside paint (hence why the strut brace isnt back on just yet).
To top it off i went and bought some new silicon to replace that dirty old orange bit, as well as the covered up the blue silcon so now the engine bay is a bit more colour coded.

This sunday ill be competing at the King of Drift comp at Queensland Raceway. Really looking forward to that, wish me luck!!!

New Photos

Ive been taking more photos than drifting lately, but i think it's safe to say that im pretty happy with these shots of my car.

Yes that is a giant dent in my Hayashi's, a year or two back when they were on the rear i had some kurb love.
These were all taken with my 50mm f/1.8, for anyone that knows canon, its a very cheap lens. But im about to update my kit with a 17-40 F/4L and a 50mm f/1.4. Serious can't wait!
